Day 14 -Trapani - Milazzo

Bus, train and ferry. Did I really outsmart myself?

Yes, I don't trust the first round of information provided to us when asking  for directions anywhere here. First, I research online and then I match the information to the info counter at the bus stop, train station, other tourists seemingly going the same way and anyone who looks official. First tip, never assume. Always ask and ask again. 

Today was a big day of travel. Bus ,train and last leg by ferry. With no fixed dates, the beauty of remaining flexiable served us well today. We will island hop our way up the coast to Naples.

Siclily has two groups of islands , northwest the Egadi islands, magnificent, tick done and today we made our way to the Northeast, Aeolian islands in the Tyrrhenian Sea. Our plan, after a few nights here is to get to Tropea , mainland in Calabria , Sth Italy.

The Aeolian islands  offer a spectacular mix of history, small town atmosphere, intens ly flavoured cuisine and natural beauty. Volcanic activity has created black lava beaches and warm sea. Pumice is  one of the largest industries outside of tourism. Bus, train and ferry were well worth this trip for his experience. Surprisly the cost was reasonable at sum of 85 Euro for bo of us. Not bad really?

If you can imagine, the scenic train route has the coastline on one side and villages , towns and cities on the other. At any point you can disembark and spend time here on holiday.

We arrive at Lipardi island, first impressions, another gorgeous island. The Main Streetis is lined in cobbles stones with shops, bars and restaurants.  As we sat to get a drink and take in our environment, the heavens opened and pelted down with rain. Within seconds , the steeets were empty, where did everyone go?
