Day 16 - Over night ferry to Naples

What can be said about catchng an overnight ferry from Lipiri, Sicily to Naples? Nothing really other thank goodness I released the moths from my wallet and coughed up for the recliner seats!

We arrived very early in Naples to much chaos on the port. People are everywhere, people getting to work, tour groups, trucks and buses. Gina quickly identified our next mode of transport! A fast ferry to Positano. On arriving we were confronted by one of the most amazing sights in Italy, a port city built into the mountains and sheer cliff tops. The beauty and majesty is for me difficult to put into words so let the photos do the talking. What I can say is how extremely Fortunate we are to be here, a stunning location with the best travelling companion I could wish for.

We read in our travel guide the history of this magnificent place. Palermo fell first to the Romans, then Arabs , who chose this for their capital. It's so evident the rich history of this powerful city. The city ruins tell the tale of 8th - 15th century palaces and monumental buildings. Today the Sicilians have converted many crumbling yet romantic courtyards into restaurant's and pizzeria's.
