Each spot on the Amalfi Coast has a personality all its own. We caught a ferry to Capri and yes the port looks the same as the others, but it is what lies beyond that is amazing!

A three hour tour, what could go wrong |
We ventured to the Blue Grotto, choosing to do a 2 hour boat trip rather than take the 20 minute bus. Anyone who knows me well would know I dont cope well on small boats, so the choice was brave to say the least!

Very cool boats |
By the time we arrived at the Blue Grotto I was already green around the gills. But that was nothing compared to the scene that awaited. All manner of boats queueing up to unload their passengers into even smaller row boats to enter the Blue Grotto, our waiting time at least an hour. So that hour passed as we bobbed in the sun, we eventually got into the small row boat, Gina petrified! As anyone who knows Gina well, they will realise water is her fear so transferring across boats is a nightmare!

A different kind of taxi rank |
The Blue Grotto, wow!! The reflection of the light through the cave entry, makes the water a translucent blue. It is both eerie and special. We are in and out in 10 minutes after all that.

The look of love or fear |

How did the Grotto get its name |

That opening is smaller than it appears |
Back to port, thank goodness, and a couple of Panadols, we are good to go as beer o'clock beckons. Why take the tram car up the hill to the town centre, how far can it be. As it turns out, a bloody long way, up hill and stairs. We arrive at the first bar, sweating like crazy people, desperate for a drink to cool us down. But once there, well worth it. Capri is beautiful as it is expensive with exclusive boutiques, designer jewellery and watch brands. Lunch and a couple of drinks required us to take
out a line of credit!
